âCollege GameDayâ makes Alabama-Michigan, Texas-Washington CFP picks
Pat McAfee said Monday during ESPN’s “College GameDay” you’d be an idiot not to pick No. 1 Michigan over No. 4 Alabama in the Rose Bowl.
Well, McAfee is a self-proclaimed idiot.
The ESPN analyst was the only one of the three to make picks on the popular college football pregame show to select Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide.
“I’ve had a lot of Michigan fans wearing khakis tell me that I never pick Michigan, and that is not true,” he said. “I picked Rutgers to beat Michigan one time earlier in the year. And Michigan won by 70. Then you see what Michigan has done all season with their mental toughness and how great they are, and how mature a team they are. You’d be an idiot to pick against them, but Roll Tide Roll.
“I got Alabama going to the national championship just because I think they have developed and played their best ball, and I still think their best is yet to come starting with a close win today over Michigan.”

Desmond Howard, a former Michigan star, stayed with his team.
“When I heard Alabama and Nick Saban went and hired a former Michigan coach, it was like here we go,” he said. “It’s like white-collar, sign-stealing, but I think Michigan is so motivated because of everything they have gone through. I got Michigan winning a close one in the Rose Bowl.”
Lee Corso pointed out there are some that believe neither team deserve to be in the CFP. Alabama got in over an undefeated Florida State, while Michigan was dealing with the sign-stealing controversy.
“This is the most controversial pick I think I have ever made,” he said. “There are many experts out there that believe that neither one of these teams deserve to be here. They got a lot of baggage. Forget the baggage.”
Corso then rocked the Michigan helmet.
The pick is consistent with his predictions late last week when he called for Texas to win the CFP national championship.
