âAsk God to use you & he willâ: Alabamaâs lawnmower man reflects on years of service
An Alabama man that’s known for volunteering his lawn services across the country made a recent social media post about the success of his business.
In a tweet posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, Robert Smith Jr. said, “It’s crazy to think everything started with this post I made in 2015. Even before this even happened I remember asking God to use me as his vessel. He didn’t give me an answer the day that I asked him, not a month later , not even a year later.” He continued, “It happened a few years later and this would be that day. I’m still amazed at what all has happened since . Ask God to use you & he will . It might not happen right away, but trust me during that time your waiting he’s just preparing you for what’s about to happens.”
Smith started giving back to his community by offering free grass cutting services to the elderly, single parents, disabled, and veterans in 2015 through his business, Founder of Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service. Since then Smith’s business has grown with initiatives like the 50 Yard Challenge that was launched in 2017. The challenge pushes kids ages 8-17 to mow 50 yards for free, earning them a different color t-shirt, representing each level their at for every 10 yards cut.
“I’ve been around all 50 states about 16 times for different causes to mow lawns for like police officers, kids with cancer, breast cancer, autism, veterans. Each time I went around the country, I would customize lawn care services for that specific cause,” said Smith.
Over the years, Smith has been on national news platforms like ABC News and CBS to discuss Raising Men & Women. He’s also garnered over 400,000 followers across all social media platforms. Eventually Smith wants to launch multiple chapters across the country and mirror the Big Brother Big Sisters of America organization.
