‘Top 100 Players’ ratings include 3 more from Alabama

Three more NFL standouts with Alabama football roots were revealed as members of “The Top 100 Players of 2023″ on Monday, with Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle at No. 44, New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley at No. 46 and Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II at No. 49.

NFL Network continued to unveil its 13th annual poll of NFL players by releasing the No. 41 through No. 50 finishers in the voting for this season’s list of the best players in the league.

Mosley, Surtain and Waddle are Alabama alumni.

Surtain is making his debut among “The Top 100 Players.” Waddle appeared in last year’s poll at No. 63. Mosley has been among “The Top 100 Players” three times previously – 94th in 2015, 98th in 2018 and 71st in 2019.

Last week’s announcements of the poll results included Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen (Alabama) at No. 52, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs (Alabama) at No. 60, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) at No. 82, Cleveland Browns defensive end Za’Darius Smith (Greenville) at No. 84, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey (Hoover, Alabama) at No. 92 and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (Alabama) at No. 100.

Mosley (Theodore) received Pro Bowl recognition for the fifth time in 2022, when he made 158 tackles for the Jets.

In his second NFL season, Surtain received first-team All-Pro recognition in 2022.

In his second NFL season, Waddle had 75 receptions for 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns as he led the NFL in yards per catch at 18.1 in 2022.

The countdown of “The Top 100 NFL Players of 2023″ will continue 10 at a time at 11 a.m. CDT for the next three weekdays on NFL+. The top 10 players will be revealed at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 on NFL+.
