âHammeredâ Elle King âruinedâ Dolly Parton birthday tribute: âYou ainât getting your money backâ
Elle King admitted she was “hammered” during her cover of “Marry Me” at the “Opry Goes Dolly” show in honor of Dolly Parton’s birthday.
As a result, the Grad Ole Opry has apologized.
“We deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance,” the Opry posted on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
The apology was in response to the complaint from a audience member who complained about how King “ruined the night with her horrible, drunk, and profane performance.”
In a clip posted to TikTok, King tells the crowd: “Don’t tell Dolly, holy (s-word). I swear if any of you guys tell Dolly. … I’m not even gonna (f-word) lie. Y’all bought tickets for this (s-word)? You ain’t getting your money back.”
She also said, “I’ll tell you one thing more. Hi, my name is Elle King. I’m (f-word) hammered.”
