âA whole different Bryceâ Young shines at talent show
Carolina Panthers coach Frank Reich thought enough of Bryce Young’s performance since he joined the NFL team as the first pick in the draft on April 27 to proclaim the former Alabama All-American as “QB 1″ in the early days of training camp.
But it appears Young has done more than impress on the field. According to his teammates, he also “killed it” with his performance during the Panthers’ rookie talent show last week.

For the show, Young sang the Keyshia Cole song “Love,” the quarterback told NFL Network on Saturday.
“He brought the house down,” Carolina offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu said. “It was crazy. … He got everyone singing, everyone clapping. He got a standing ovation, and he went first, so that’s a lot of pressure going first. I think he killed it. A-plus.”
Young said he sang “the first song that came into my head.”
“We all got to sing,” Young said. “You might as well go all out.”
Young said he doesn’t consider himself a good singer “because I’m not. Ask anyone on the team.”
But his teammates had a different opinion.
“Bryce set the stage,” linebacker Shaq Thompson said. “He had a hell of a performance. I thought I was at a concert, to be honest with you. Bryce had a hell of a performance. …
“We didn’t know what we was going to expect, but he got up there and killed it.”
Thompson said Young’s performance might have had an importance that went beyond entertainment.
“Everybody enjoyed it,” Thompson said. “He got into it. I’m trying to tell you: It was like a concert. He set the stage. You could just see the personality out of him, you know what I mean? It was like, ‘(Expletive), I can get behind that.’ So that was good for us to see, good for him to be up there. I think it went well. Everybody respected it. We had fun with it. But it shocked us that he had so much personality. It was dope. …
“You first get in here, you got to earn that trust. But yesterday, it was a whole different Bryce – a whole different Bryce – and it was good to see.”
