Vote for the top Huntsville-area football player of Week 8

Fans can once again cast their vote for their favorite performance from north Alabama high school football action.

Coaches can submit statistics following their games on Friday night or nominate players before noon each Saturday.

Nominations must come from a coach or official team statistician. They can be emailed to [email protected].

Voting is open until Wednesday evening. The winner will be announced on AL.com on Thursday.

Here are the nominees from Week 8:

Tavarian Langford, Mae Jemison: Langford finished with the go-ahead kickoff return touchdown, a rushing score and a run for a 2-point conversion as Mae Jemsion beat Decatur 28-21.

Keaton Williams, Sparkman: Williams ran in a game-winning two-point conversion and threw the final touchdown of the game as Sparkman beat James Clemens 15-14.

Adam Hartman, Westminster Christian: Hartman caught nine passes for 83 yards and scored three touchdowns as Westminster Christian beat Madison County 40-21.

Presley Fant, Boaz: Fant totaled 87 yards and three touchdowns as Boaz clinched a playoff spot with a 52-6 win over Brewer. Fant’s scoring runs covered 4, 21 and 20 yards.

Garrett Burrough, Brooks: The quarterback finished with 92 yards on the ground while completing 75% of his passes (15-of-20) for 171 yards and one touchdown as Brooks beat Deshler 44-21.

Trey Greenwell, Decatur: Greenwell caught 8 passes for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns, also rushing for another score as Decatur fell to Mae Jemison 28-21.

Logan Anderson, Fyffe: The Clemson commit racked up 266 yards and five touchdowns on just nine attempts as Fyffe beat Whitesburg Christian 49-7; he scored from yardage of 52, 80, 1, 45 and 38 in the lopsided win.

Jaheim Pruitt, Hartselle: The running back finished with a career-high 107 rushing yards and ran for a touchdown with 1:19 left in the third quarter as Hartselle beat Athens 21-19.

Dax Varnadore, Fort Payne: The quarterback completed 13 of his 18 passes for 144 yards and four touchdowns as Fort Payne beat Class 6A No. 7 Gadsden City 28-18 on Friday; his touchdown passes were from 6, 18, 15 and 8 yards with three coming on third and goal. He also ran for 52 yards on two attempts.
