Alabama high school one of 16 finalists for $2 million stadium makeover
An Alabama high school is one of 16 schools across the nation still in the running for a multi-million stadium makeover.
Saks High School in Anniston is the lone school from the state of Alabama that emerged as a finalist for the contest, which is sponsored by T-Mobile.
There were over 1,700 entries for the competition.
“At the heart of a small, low-income community, Saks High School strives to provide opportunities despite limited resources,” the contest website wrote. “Winning the T-Mobile 5G Lights Upgrade grant would transform our outdated stadium, which is used by high school teams and youth leagues throughout the community. Upgrading it would boost pride, create a safe space for children, and foster unity.
“This grant would inspire future generations, and remind us we can achieve great things together. Investing in our stadium is an investment in our community’s future.”
The competition is social media based, with each like on an Instagram post featuring Saks High School counting as one vote. Click here to find the post.
Saks (2-5, 1-4 Class 3A, Region 6) will host Glencoe on Friday at Jack Stewart Field.
