Authorities are searching for family members of three people who died recently in Jefferson County.
Their bodies are ready to be released for burial, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has not been able to locate their next of kin.
Kenneth Simmons, an 87-year-old white male, died Aug. 31 at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center. He was being treated as an inpatient and died of natural causes.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Simmons has past connections to Gainesville, Roswell, Atlanta, Birmingham, Bessemer and Hueytown.

Johnny Walker Jr., a 75-year-old Black male, was found unresponsive by his caregiver on Oct. 3 at his home on Sixth Avenue West. He was under the care of Expect Care Hospice.
Walker previously listed his aunt, Eva Fitzpatrick of Ensley, as his emergency contact but she passed away in January 2015.
Robert Persinger, an 82-year-old white male, died Sept. 25 at St. Vincent’s East. He died of natural causes while he was a patient at the hospital.
Yates said hospital records indicate all of Persinger’s family members have passed away. He has possible past ties to Indiana and Florida.
