Denver Nuggets waive rookie forward from Auburn
The Denver Nuggets waived the three players in their training camp on Exhibit 10 contracts on Monday, including former Auburn standout Jaylin Williams.
The Nuggets announced on July 31 that the team had signed Williams, Gabe McGlothan and Jahmir Young to Exhibit 10 contracts. But on Monday, Denver reduced its roster to the regular-season limit – 15 standard-contract players and three two-way-contract players – 17 days ahead of its season-opening game on Oct. 24 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum-salary, non-guaranteed deal. If the player doesn’t make the NBA team’s roster, the contract includes a provision that will pay the player a bonus if he spends at least 60 days with the team’s NBA Gatorade League affiliate.
The Nuggets’ NBA G league affiliate is the Grand Rapids Gold, which tips off its schedule on Nov. 8 against the Windy City Bulls.
Denver opened its preseason with two games against the Boston Celtics in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Boston defeated the Nuggets 107-103 on Friday and 130-104 on Sunday. Williams did not play in either game.
A 6-foot-8 forward, Williams played in a school-record 141 games at Auburn. He played in three games with Denver in the NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas in July.
