North Alabama man struck, killed by dump truck

A Tuscumbia man died Monday morning when he was apparently struck by a dump truck,

Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the incident happened at about 6:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, on Alabama 20 near Lawrence County 273, within the Town Creek city limits.

Cedrick E. Garrett, 42, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a 2023 Kenworth T880 dump truck, driven by James G. Smith, 44, of Rogersville.

Garrett was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
