Man arrested in connection with attempted child abduction at Alabama Piggly Wiggly
A Gadsden man has been arrested in connection with reports of an attempted child abduction.
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden announced that Cordell Quenton Brand, 29, has been charged with second degree unlawful imprisonment and illegal possession of prescription drugs.
The arrest stems from an incident that happened on Sept. 27. Collinsville police were dispatched to the area of Piggly Wiggly and Rains Court Apartments.
Police questioned a juvenile victim and family members and put together a description of the person involved in the incident.
Two days later, Collinsville police were called to the apartments on Truman Lane on another issue.
While speaking with subjects on the scene, an officer determined one of the subjects matched the description of the man from the previous incident. Brand was then arrested.
Welden said the arrest would not have taken place without the help of “vigilant members of the community.”
Brand is being held in the DeKalb County Jail, awaiting a bond hearing.
