Tim Walz debate performance ‘worse’ than Joe Biden, says Tommy Tuberville
The reviews of Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz are in from Alabama’s two Republican U.S. senators, who said Vance laid out a vision while Walz had a “worse” debate performance than President Biden.
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., said Vance, his Senate colleague from Ohio, put on a “master class.”
“Imagine having a worse debate than the one that forced @JoeBiden not to seek reelection to President of the United States…that’s what @Tim_Walz has achieved tonight. @JDVance with a master class. #MAGA,” tweeted Alabama’s senior senators.
Biden’s performance in June’s CNN debate in which he stumbled over his answers led to questions over his age and ultimately led the president to withdraw from the campaign in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris.
In what may have been the largest gaffe on Tuesday night, Walz misspoke when explaining how his position on gun control evolved:
According to U.S. Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., who served as a Vance surrogate on Tuesday night in the debate spin room, the GOP vice presidential nominee offered “hope” to voters.
“Tonight @JDVance showed every struggling American family hope. My friend answered questions with clear, concise plans on how President Trump will restore economic prosperity, bring back peace through strength & stop the deadly crisis at the border,” Britt wrote. “Let’s save the American Dream.”
Vance and Walz, the Minnesota governor, squared off in the lone vice presidential debate of the 2024 campaign hosted by CBS News in New York.
