Suspect charged with robbery in Huntsville bank holdup, police say

A suspect was charged with robbery in the Wednesday holdup of a Huntsville bank, police said Thursday.

Ronald Paul Horner Jr., 50, was taken into custody around 2 p.m. Thursday near Oakwood Avenue and Memorial Parkway by Huntsville police violent crimes investigators, Madison County sheriff’s deputies and members of the FBI North Alabama Violent Crimes Task Force, said Sgt. Rosalind White.

He was then taken to the Madison County Jail.

Horner is accused of robbing the PNC Bank at 2004 Country Club Ave.

Investigators believe the suspect handed the teller a note and gave the teller reason to believe he was possibly armed.  No weapon was ever seen by bank employees. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Police initially believed three people were responsible for the robbery but said Thursday that they now believe only one suspect committed the holdup.

White said police have no information to suggest the bank robbery is related to any other robbery investigations.

Further information was unavailable.
