Montgomery Academy, ranked No. 1 in the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll, improved to 24-2 on the year, winning its 20-team Mayor’s Cup tournament at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl. The Eagles also beat St. Luke’s and Trinity on Thursday in the regular season.

In pool play of the Mayor’s Cup, Montgomery Academy beat Prattville Christian, Carver-Montgomery, Hartselle and John Carroll. The Eagles beat St. Paul’s in the quarterfinals, Spanish Fort in the semifinals and Pelham in the championship.
