Popular Alabama meat-and-three closing forever after more than 20 years

Laney’s Country Cooking, a popular meat-and-three in Leeds, will close after more than 20 years of business.

The restaurant, located at 7601 Parkway Drive, served breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with traditional meat-and-three options and desserts. The restaurant was named for owner Vicky Dean’s granddaughter.

The owners announced the news on Facebook Sunday night.

“The past few years have been tough for many, and while we have done our best to navigate these hardships, the combined impact of the economic downturn and the struggle to maintain a dedicated team has led us to this difficult decision,” the announcement said.

They expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the community they served, and the role of each member in the Laney’s Country Cooking story.

“With heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes, John, Vicky, Sharon, Laney, and Lilia,” signed Laney’s Country Cooking for the last time.

Last November, the restaurant was listed for sale at an asking price of $350,000, with plans to continue operating.

“If you’ve dreamed of opening a restaurant, here’s one that’s up and running and it’s for sale,” posted the real estate agent representing the sellers on Facebook.

As of now, it remains uncertain whether Laney’s Country Cooking has been sold.

“We’ve had the honor of serving you and becoming more than just a restaurant; we’ve forged lifelong friendships and shared countless memorable moments,” the restaurant posted in announcing the closing. “The joy we’ve found in serving you, the friendships we’ve built, and the shared experiences will always be close to our hearts.

“While we are saddened to say goodbye, we will always treasure the warmth and kindness you’ve shown us over the years. Thank you for being a significant part of Laney’s Country Cooking. We will miss each of you dearly and hope that our paths may cross again in the future.”
