Auburn NFL roundup: Derick Hall tough on former teammate Bo Nix

Seattle Seahawks outside linebacker Derick Hall recorded the first sack of his NFL career on Sunday, and it came against former Auburn teammate Bo Nix.

The 12th pick in the NFL Draft on April 25, Nix made his debut as the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback on Sunday. But Hall helped the Seattle Seahawks make sure the rookie didn’t win the first time out.

In the Seahawks’ 26-20 victory, Hall made two tackles, recorded one sack and registered three quarterback hits on Nix.

A second-round draft choice in 2023, Hall played in every game for Seattle as a rookie. He was on the field for 307 defensive snaps, but he did not record a sack in 2023. Hall had 38 tackles and five quarterback hits in 2023.

Hall recorded his first NFL sack by taking down Nix on a first-and-10 snap at the Seattle 27-yard line with seven seconds left in the first half.

Hall was among the 19 former Auburn players who got on the field on the first Sunday of the NFL’s 105th season.

Hall and Nix were teammates at Auburn in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons. Nix transferred to Oregon, where he played the previous two seasons.

In his first game, Nix completed 26-of-42 passes for 138 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions and ran five times for 35 yards and one touchdown. Nix scored his first NFL TD on a 4-yard run with 2:09 to play.
