The NFL dream was snatched away. The one this former University of Alabama lineman lives now may be better.

Maybe he’s living his dream after all. Maybe — after 29 years — he’s put his shattered dream behind, and he’s living another. It’s the dream he created with hard work, will and faith. It’s the dream he never expected. It’s the dream that was meant to be.

Kareem McNeal wheels himself into his stress management class at the University of Alabama’s College of Human Environmental Sciences. Kareem’s not taking the class, he’s teaching it. The former Crimson Tide athlete has gone from being a football player outstanding in his field to a teacher who is outstanding in his field. And his story of leaving one dream behind and creating another dream is one to applaud.
