Teenager killed, 1-year-old child among 3 injured after car hits guardrail, trees in north Alabama
A teenager was killed and three people were injured, including a 1-year-old child, after a car struck a guardrail and multiple trees early Thursday morning in north Alabama.
All of the victims were in a 2008 Mitsubishi Galant that veered off Alabama State Route 68 near DeKalb County Road 192 around 2:40 a.m. when the car hit a guardrail and several trees, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey.
A passenger in the Galant, only identified as an 18-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, about two miles west of Collinsville.
The 19-year-old driver of the car and a 58-year-old passenger were injured and taken to TC Thompson Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The 1-year-old child was also a passenger in the Mitsibushi and injured in the wreck. The infant was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued investigating the crash.
