Week 2 Cunningham Bounds Coastal Player of the Week starred on defense
Caden Taylor of Satsuma had a huge night as the Gators knocked off Cottage Hill 30-18 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The 6-foot, 245-pounder had six tackles on the night – three sacks – and four tackles for a loss. He forced two fumbles and returned a fumble recovery 65 yards for a touchdown.
For his efforts, voters selected Taylor as the Week 2 Cunningham Bounds Coastal Player of the Week. The senior offensive and defensive lineman garnered 36 percent of the 7,449 votes cast in last week’s poll – 36 percent.
Jack Lenaghan of McGill-Toolen finished second in the voting with 17 percent – 1,296 votes. The junior receiver/running back ran for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Yellow Jackets beat Murphy. He also caught three passes for 62 yards and blocked a punt.
Marquaes Lambert of Daphne was third in the voting with 637 votes. The senior defensive lineman had four tackles and 3.5 sacks in the Trojans’ 34-7 win at Pine Forest, Fla. He also forced as fumble as Daphne improved to 2-0 on the season.
