Alabama inmate seriously injured after being struck by vehicle on work crew
A work release inmate was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Thursday morning in Morgan County.
Priceville police said the incident happened at about 7:20 a.m. near the edge of Alabama 67, in the 600 block.
The inmate, taking part in a work crew, was struck by a passing vehicle.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office identified the inmate as James Earl Bright, 58. According to authorities, Bright was alert when being transported to the hospital.
According to police, he was airlifted to a medical facility with severe injuries.
Sheriff’s investigators responded to the scene to gather details. Priceville police is investigating the incident.
The driver of the vehicle involved was not injured.
It is unclear if any charges will result.
