Dothan couple accused of shooting man in head during robbery of cell phone

A Dothan couple is jailed without bond after police say they shot a man during a robbery.

Ty’Qon McMillan, 24, and Veronica McMillan, 23, are charged with attempted murder and robbery.

Dothan officers were called to a home Tuesday in the 1000 block of Fountain Street on a report of someone shot in the head.

Lt. Scott Owens said police arrived to the find the victim with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. The victim was seriously injured, but alert.

He told police the McMillans tried to rob him of his cell phone and a physical altercation ensued with Ty’Qon McMillan. Veronica McMillan, he said, was able to get the cell phone from him during the struggle.

“During the altercation,” Owens said, “Ty’Qon fired a round from a small caliber handgun that struck the victim in the head.”

The victim is in stable condition and is expected to be OK.

The suspects were taken into custody Wednesday and remain held in the Houston County Jail.

Both were out of bond on previous charges, and those bonds have now been revoked following their new charges.
