Alabama HS football game stopped in 3rd quarter amid threat of violence

The game between rivals Tallassee and Elmore County –schools that sit just 12 miles apart – was postponed late the third quarter after law enforcement officials discovered a threat of violence through social media.

It’s unclear if the game, which was tied at 14-all when the game was stopped late in the third quarter, will be resumed and finished at a later date.

“We were told somebody was going to get to shooting at the game,” said Tallassee coach Lawrence O’Neal, whose team was playing at Elmore County’s Burt-Hayne Field in Eclectic. “Safety is always first. We’re playing a game. If somebody is threatening to shoot, that’s real life. The safety of our kids is always first.”
