A man shot Aug. 21 in a Decatur domestic violence incident has died.

Decatur police said Donwaski Puryear died Thursday at Huntsville Hospital.

Puryear was shot in an incident Aug. 21 at about 5 p.m. at Blossom Wood Apartments, 1242 Beltline Rd. S.W.

Police called to the area found Puryear suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

Takaya Stover was arrested and charged with first degree domestic violence in connection with the shooting.

Police said the case will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for grand jury consideration.
