Look like Jimmy Carter or Ayatollah Khomeini? Political thriller filming in South casting lookalikes
If you look like Jimmy Carter or Ayatollah Khomeini, you could be in a political thriller that’s filming in the South.
“Hotel Tehran,” an action movie starring Liam Neeson and Zachary Levi, is seeking actors who closely resemble the former U.S. president and Iranian leader during the late 1970s, according to Goleman Casting. Scenes involving the political figures are scheduled to film on Sept. 6 in the area of Jackson, Mississippi, the casting company said.
A Tuesday Facebook post from Goleman Casting said the film needed “photo doubles” for the movie. It also said the folks behind “Hotel Tehran” are looking for someone who resembles Stansfield Turner, a former Navy admiral who led the CIA during the Carter administration (1977-1981).
In the movie industry, photo doubles “can be used when a principal actor is in a scene but is not the focus and is essentially functioning as a background actor,” according to a post from the Central Casting website. “Since the photo double looks like the actor from a distance, they can film in the actor’s place while they prepare for other scenes.”
Goleman Casting, based in Mobile, has been involved in casting extras, background actors and other roles for several movies that have filmed in Alabama, such as “The Rivals of Amziah King,” “About My Father” and “A Nashville Legacy.”
The company posted another casting notice for “Hotel Tehran” this week, saying male and female background actors were needed to play soldiers and officers in military scenes. Dates for filming were listed as Sept. 12-Oct. 2 in Jackson, the Facebook post said.
Levi, 43, is known for his work in the “Shazam!” movies and the TV series “Chuck.” He stars in “Hotel Tehran” as “Tucker, who leads a unit of disgraced, war-torn ex-CIA operators into the heart of Tehran to take down a life-changing score,” Deadline reported in January. It’s unclear that Neeson’s role will be, and the rest of the cast hasn’t been revealed.
Neeson, 72, is an Oscar-nominated actor famed for his roles in “Schindler’s List,” “Michael Collins,” “Les Misérables,” “Gangs of New York” and more. He became an action hero after starring in 2008′s “Taken,” and has appeared in many action films over the years, including “The A-Team,” “Cold Pursuit” and “A Walk Among the Tombstones.”
Summer production for “Hotel Tehran” was announced earlier this year by Rocket Science, Oakhurst Entertainment, Astral Future and Dreamtime Films, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Director for “Hotel Tehran” is Guy Moshe, who helmed 2010′s ”Bunraku” and 2020′s “LX 2048,” among other projects. Moshe wrote the script for “Hotel Tehran” with Mark Bacci, from an original idea by Bazzel Baz, a former CIA Intelligence Special Operations Group Officer, Variety said.
