Alabama high school football player suffers critical brain injury during game

Morgan Academy student-athlete Caden Tellier suffered a critical brain injury during his team’s game against Southern Academy in Selma.

Michael McLendon, executive director of the Alabama Independent School Association, confirmed the news to AL.com on Saturday morning.

“At AISA, we are a close-knit family of schools, and our hearts are heavy,” McLendon said in a statement.

Tellier is Morgan Academy’s quarterback.

McLendon said Morgan Academy will suspend all school activities for the upcoming week to give the community time to come together, reflect and support one another.
