Third-ranked and defending Class 6A champion Clay-Chalkville opened the Stuart Floyd Era with a 28-7 home win over Hueytown on Friday at Cougar Stadium. The Cougars gave Floyd, their new head coach who replaced the departed Drew Gilmer, the victory in his first game at the helm.

“It was a good win,” Floyd said. “It was a very immature game, though.”
