21-year-old ID’d as man killed one week ago in Center Point apartment fire
Authorities have released the name of a man who died one week ago today in a fire at a Center Point apartment complex.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Ta’Ciaven Malique Craig. He was 21.
Center Point Fire and Rescue and Trussville Fire and Rescue responded at 12:09 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, to reports of an apartment building fire with possible entrapment.
The location of the building was in the 1900 block of East Bend Circle in Center Point.
Once the blaze was extinguished, firefighters found Craig unresponsive inside his unit. He was pronounced dead at 1:33 a.m.
Authorities said the fire is believed to have begun in the victim’s apartment.
The investigation is ongoing by the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.
