The Philadelphia Eagles obtained wide receiver Jahan Dotson in a trade with the Washington Commanders on Thursday.

The Eagles announced they had sent a third-round selection and two seventh-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft to the division rival Commanders in exchange for Dotson and a fifth-round choice in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Philadelphia has one of the best wide-receiver duos in the NFL with A.J. Brown and former Alabama All-American DeVonta Smith, who combined for 187 receptions for 2,522 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2023. But the other three wide receivers who had at least 10 receptions for the Eagles last season – former Athens High School standout Quez Watkins, former Alabama star Julio Jones and Olamide Zaccheaus – are no longer with the team.

Dotson entered the NFL as the 16th selection in the 2022 draft after he had 91 receptions for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior at Penn State.

In 12 games as a rookie, Dotson had 35 receptions for 523 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2023, Dotson played in 17 games with 16 starts and caught 49 passes for 518 yards and four touchdowns.

Dotson had three receptions for 16 yards in Washington’s two preseason games this month.

Philadelphia’s depth chart shows Parris Campbell as the extra target for quarterback Jalen Hurts when the Eagles have three wide receivers on the field.

Campbell is preparing for his first season with Philadelphia and his sixth in the NFL. He had 20 receptions for 104 yards with no touchdowns in 12 games with the New York Giants in 2023 and has totaled 117 receptions for 1,087 yards and five touchdowns in his NFL career since joining the Indianapolis Colts in the second round of the 2019 draft.

The Eagles will complete their preseason schedule at noon CDT Saturday, when the Minnesota Vikings visit Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The Eagles kick off their regular season against the Green Bay Packers at 7:15 p.m. Sept. 6 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
