The Hoover Buccaneers will be one of the teams in action this weekend, as they get ready to kickoff the season on Saturday. They will play against Western, and the game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT.
Hoover will be led by a new head coach this season following the resignation of head football coach Drew Gilmer. Defensive coordinator Adam Helms also resigned. Videos recently surfaced of the former head coach exhibiting aggressive behavior against some of his players, which led to his eventual resignation.
Due to the coaching drama, Hoover will be led by interim head coach Chip English this season. The Buccaneers are looking to improve on their 5-7 record from last year, but Western will be a tough opponent.
Western reached the third round of the playoffs in Florida last year with a strong 9-4 record.
