More homes available in fast-growing north Alabama cities as mortgage rates dip
With more homes on the market and mortgage rates creeping down, potential buyers could see more choice in fast-growing Huntsville and Athens.
The Huntsville-Madison County area had 2,610 homes on the market last month, according to new data from Valley MLS. That’s a 16.6% increase compared with June’s 2,237 and up nearly 62% over July 2023. Athens and Limestone County saw a similar trend, where the inventory of 944 homes was up 15.3% over June and up 77% compared with the previous July.
“I have seen a pickup in activity this week due to 30-year interest rates coming down,” said realtor Matt Curtis. “This has gotten some buyers off of the sidelines.”
