As wonderfully weird as Jane’s Addiction is, they’ve connected with millions of people because their music shakes the sky. This quintessential Los Angeles band put the rock into alternative-rock. Outside art delivered with Marshall amps, concrete jungle grooves and whacked-out witchdoctor vocals. Lyrical and musical hooks that stick to your psyche. Raw power, as Iggy Pop would put it.

The reunion of Jane’s Addiction’s classic lineup – frontman Perry Ferrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins – has fans understandably stoked. There’s new music, see vintage-sounding single “Imminent Redemption.” A U.S. tour will bring Jane’s Addiction here to Huntsville, Alabama, for the first time ever, for the debut South Star Music Festival’s opening day, Sept. 28 at John Hunt Park. (South Star continues on Sept. 29.) Jane’s will perform from 7:15-8:15 p.m.
