Five Alabama athletes named to MaxPreps sophomore all-American team

Five sophomores from the state of Alabama were selected for MaxPreps’ annual sophomore all-American team, it was announced Friday.

Thompson quarterback Trent Seaborn and Jackson running back Ezavier Crowell were named to the first-team offense, while Thompson defensive lineman Cam Pritchett, Moody linebacker Ba’Roc Willis and Vigor linebacker Jabarrius Garror were all named to the second-team defense.

Alabama was one of five states to have at least five players selected, joining Texas (12), California (11), Florida (eight) and Georgia (five).

Last season saw Seaborn rack up for 2,590 yards and 27 touchdowns as a freshman, with the Thompson quarterback heading into his sophomore year with 17 career starts under his belt.

Crowell, who was recently named the nation’s No. 1 running back in the Class of 2027 by 247Sports, ran for 1,715 yards and 25 touchdowns for Jackson last season, also hauling in 212 yards and five touchdowns on 11 passes; he also totaled 102 yards as a punt returner.

Pritchett, who stands at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, has received offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Penn State, South Carolina, Miami, Texas and others. He joins his teammate Seaborn on the nationally-ranked team.

Garror was recently ranked a four-star recruit by 247Sports and stands at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds. The Vigor defender, who is ranked No. 43 nationally in the Class of 2027, committed to Alabama on July 31.

Fellow Alabama commit Willis was rated the No. 66 recruit in the class of 2027 and was recently named a four-star recruit.
