An overnight fire in eastern Jefferson County left one man dead.

Center Point Fire and Rescue and Trussville Fire and Rescue responded at 12:09 a.m. Friday to reports of an apartment building fire with possible entrapment.

The location of the building was in the 1900 block of East Bend Circle in Center Point.

Once the blaze was extinguished, firefighters found the man unresponsive inside his unit. He was pronounced dead at 1:33 a.m.

Authorities said the fire is believed to have begun in the victim’s apartment.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing by the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.
