Friday NFL roundup: Texans re-establish TD connection
Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell had 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie when he went down with a broken leg in the 11th game of the 2023 season.
In his first action of the NFL preseason on Friday night, Dell re-established his connection with quarterback C.J. Stroud by capping Houston’s second series with a 34-yard touchdown reception before the former Alabama A&M wide receiver and the QB took the rest of the game off.
The Texans went on to a 20-12 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The NFL preseason schedule included two other games on Friday night:
· Philadelphia kicker Jake Elliott hit the right upright on a 50-yard field-goal attempt with 16 seconds to play in a tie game, then connected from 49 yards out on the final snap to lift the Eagles to a 16-13 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Between the kicks, the Ravens lost a fumble at their 32-yard line on a sack.
· Miami stopped Atlanta on fourth-down snaps at the Dolphins 2- and 6-yard lines on the Falcons’ final two possessions to hold on for a 20-13 victory.
