A Thursday night shooting in Notasulga left one teen dead and another wounded.

The shooting happened about 7:15 p.m. in Notasulga, according to Macon County Sheriff Andre Brunson and Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones.

The shooting happened in Macon County but the teens were both students in Lee County.

No additional details were immediately available.

A 16-year-old boy was killed, and a 17-year-old was injured but is expected to survive.

Both teens were students at Loachapoka High School, Jones confirmed.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation is leading the probe, with assistance from sheriff’s investigators in Macon and Lee counties.
