Sheffield police are investigating a fatal shooting that left one person dead and another wounded.

Police Chief Ricky Terry said the incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. Friday at the Underground club, in the 200 block of South Columbia Avenue.

Police were called to a gunshot victim.

The wounded person, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to Helen Keller Hospital but died of injuries.

A person detained at the scene for questioning was also wounded, but was treated and released from North Alabama Shoals Hospital.
