Kalen DeBoer, Alabama football to hold season kickoff dinner for fans

There’s plenty of new happening around Alabama football these days with the passing of the coaching torch from Nick Saban to Kalen DeBoer. Another such example will occur on Aug. 23 at 5 p.m.

As preseason camp wraps up, DeBoer, Alabama football and the university’s official NIL collective Yea Alabama will play host to a season kickoff dinner and auction at the Hank Crisp indoor practice facility in Tuscaloosa. The event will be called “Raise the flag.”

It’s the first such event of its kind in Tuscaloosa, and assistant coaches and players will also be on hand at the dinner the Friday before the first game week of the season. Athletics director Greg Byrne will also be in attendance.

Fans can attend, with tickets starting at $250.

DeBoer took part in a similar event while he was the coach at Washington. “Raise the woof!” was the name of the season kickoff dinner in Seattle, also held at the indoor practice facility. Now, he’s bringing a similar event with him to Alabama.

DeBoer and the Crimson Tide will kick off the season and a new era of Alabama football on Aug. 31 against Western Kentucky at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
