Bessemer man killed in rollover Tuscaloosa County crash that also injured passenger

A Bessemer man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Tuscaloosa County that also injured his passenger.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim Wayne A. Chastine. He was 57.

The wreck happened at 2:21 p.m. Thursday on Alabama 216, about five miles east of Brookwood.

Trooper Cpl. Reginal King said Chastine was driving a Toyota Corolla that left the road, hit a tree and overturned.

Chastine was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene, King said.

His passenger, 64-year-old Charles D. Woods, of Tuscaloosa, was injured. He was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by troopers.
