Alabama, Auburn basketball among finalists for nation’s No. 1 2025 prospect AJ Dybantsa

Nate Oats’ Alabama Crimson Tide and Bruce Pearl’s Auburn Tigers were both named as finalists in AJ Dybantsa’s recruitment, Dybantsa told ESPN on Friday morning.

Dybantsa, who ranks as the nation’s No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class, told ESPN’s Paul Biancardi that he had narrowed his list down to Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, BYU, Kansas, Kansas State and North Carolina.

Measuring 6-foot-9 and 205 pounds, Dybantsa has had a huge summer, averaging 22.6 points per game during his time playing in the Elite Youth Basketball League.

Dybantsa’s summer also featured a gold medal with Team USA in the FIBA U17 World Cup, as well as transferring high schools.

Previously, Dybantsa starred for Prolific Prep — the same school former Auburn and current Alabama point guard Aden Holloway graduated from.

Now, Dybantsa — from Brockton, Mass. — is set to finish up his high school career at Utah Prep.

In terms of his recruitment, Dybantsa told Biancardi that he and his family have certain pillars they’re looking for in a college program.

“[It needs to be] family-oriented, a winning program, offer development both on the court and in their strength program, and for me to be one-and-done and ready to impact,” Dybantsa told Biancardi.

Dybantsa took an official visit to Auburn in March, and is hoping to visit each of his other six finalists before reaching a decision.

The timeline for that decision? February, he told Biancardi.
