Astrologers predicted Biden stepping down—Here’s what they see next for the election

After a poor debate performance and mounting pressure from Democrats, Biden announced the end to his bid for a second term on July 21, endorsing vice president Kamala Harris as his successor. This unprecedented decision so late in the election shocked the nation – but not the astrology girlies.

Astrology, a practice involving part math, part science, and part faith, analyzes the placement of the stars, planets, houses and more to determine how what’s happening above is likely to impact our behaviors and what happens on earth. Millennials and Gen Z, people born between 1997 and 2012, are reviving astrology’s popularity, with the global astrology industry jumping from $2.2 billion in 2018 to $12.8 billion in 2021, according to Allied Market Research.

According to astrologists, July 21 was destined to bring endings. Most years we experience one full moon in each zodiac sign throughout the year but this summer we saw two full moons in the sign of Capricorn, the second being on July 21 at the 29th degree, which some predicted would cause Biden to step down or end his bid for reelection.

On July 19, astrologer and New-York Times best-selling author Chani Nicholas posted a video on TikTok explaining that events that happened that weekend would correlate to what occurs around Nov. 5, Election Day, when the planet Pluto is in the sign of Capricorn.

“This weekend’s full moon is rhyming with the events that will occur in November,” Nicholas said. “So I don’t know if this weekend will be full of conversations about a change, about an ending, about a transformation of something to do with this country and what this country will be up to in November.”

Other astrologers posted predictions online days before, some even years before we knew that Biden would even seek reelection. Controversial spiritual influencer Amy Tripp, known online as Starheal, tweeted a similar message as Nicholas on July 11.

“If Biden is made to step down (because he won’t on his own) it will be at the Capricorn Full Moon at 29° Capricorn. Capricorn rules the government and old age. 29° is an ending,” she wrote in a post.

A few days later she predicted that Harris would run for presidency, reupping a prediction she made in 2020.

With an assassination attempt on a former president, the Democratic nominee exiting the race, and the first Black and Indian woman to run for presidency launching her campaign within a week of each other, this political cycle has been chaotic but has people jumping online to share receipts of who predicted this would happen and how it’s affirmed their beliefs in astrology.

Here’s what astrologists read in Harris and Trump’s birth charts

Astrologist and psychic Jasmin Alejandrez-Prasad, known as Esoteric Esa, also predicted in 2020 that Harris would run for president in 2024 and in Jan. 2021, said that Biden would step down from his presidency. Though he hasn’t (yet), he has stepped down as the Democratic nominee. Alejandrez-Prasad walked Reckon through her process to make these predictions.

“When you look at someone’s chart, whether that’s to do a prediction, or help them find a relocation or the best date to get married, you want to look specifically at the planet in the sky at that time and the zodiac sign it’s transiting in, how it is influencing the person’s birth chart and if it’s making any correlation with planets in that person’s birth chart that could be helpful or a hindrance,” she explained.

The sign most people associate with is their sun sign, which is determined by our birthday, but astrology is much more intricate than that with time and location of birth being used to create a full birth chart, or natal chart, creating an array of signs specific to each individual.

Biden, for example, is a Scorpio with a Taurus moon and multiple Scorpio placements throughout his birth chart which Alejandrez-Prasad says, combined with eclipses and his Uranus return, helped her determine her prediction.

“On a more detailed and miniscule scale, the eclipses will tell you what is going to happen in your life. Eclipses in astrology, they’re destined, they’re faded, you can’t avoid them,” she said. “So based off the eclipses that year, what was happening in his sixth house and then all the upcoming transits, all of that gave me an analysis that he would likely struggle with finishing his presidency or at the very least his health was going to be in the forefront and a huge, huge challenge for him to get through.”

Sarah Waite-Hernandez, @mecurialsarah on TikTok, explained that the July 21 full moon in Capricorn could be interpreted as the last hurrah of antiquated systems and a man stepping down from power. She also told Reckon that society would experience a paradigm shift as Pluto moves into the sign of Aquarius for the next 20 years, which signifies looking forward.

“Full moons are usually like an accumulation point, a point of overwhelm as well, so it might have been like a release of his duties in a way, but it’s interesting because Kamala was the one to step forward,” she told Reckon.

Harris has a Libra sun with an Aries moon, which Waite-Hernandez says bring her bold and direct energy.

“As a woman she might have felt a little bit awkward with this energy when she was younger, but now that she’s older she can really channel this into leadership qualities, which is obviously happening now as she steps into this role as the first [potential] female president,” she said.

Birth charts are like astrological fingerprints, each one is unique to an individual. However, Alejandrez-Prasad says that Harris and Trump share similar placements notably, both candidates have their Mars placement in the sign of Leo, which is also where the planet will be on Election Day this year.

“I’m telling you this is so destined and, based on the astrology, they are past life enemies,”  Alejandra-Prasad said. “The election happening when Mars is in Leo tells us that they’re going to be very good opponents, they’re going to both put up a very good, strong fight and she’s gonna give him a run for his money.”

Additionally, Alejandra-Prasad says Harris and Trump both have a star Regulus that protects people, brings notoriety, and can signal a person who will lead or have influence over others. As for Biden, she sees the potential for the upcoming Mercury retrograde beginning on Aug. 5 might revive conversations about the president’s health.

“There could be an emphasis on with this Mercury retrograde, particularly with Biden’s chart, of the public getting concerned about him and possibly wondering if he will finish the last leg of his presidency,” she said. “If he were to fully step down, it would be August. This would be the determining month because it is hitting his Pluto in his eighth house of death.”

She also thinks that Trump could agree to a debate with Harris around this time, as Mercury retrograde is all about communication. At the time of publication, Trump said he would “probably” debate Harris, though no official plans have been announced, according to the Associated Press.

So what do they say will happen next?

As Nicholas mentioned in her video, Alejandra-Prasad also says that Election Day will bring a full circle moment from July 21, when Biden stepped down and Harris rose as the presumed nominee.

Though she does not want to share a prediction on who will win the presidency, she shared that she believes the election will have a shocking outcome.

“This election day is going to be very hectic,” said Waite-Hernandez, advising that polling places should implement security, as it will be a day of heightened emotions. She believes that Harris will win the election, and though she doesn’t see Trump as the next president, she does believe he will remain an influential figure.

“I don’t see him going away in politics, actually, he might even be like a senator, or going more towards being a mayor or something like that. But I do think that Trump is probably not going to be president, but he will have some sort of power.

She also thinks that the election results will be more drawn out, like it was in 2020.

“There’s lots of similarities between 2020 and 2024. We also had a Mars retrograde in 2020 and that happened during the George Floyd protests, so there’s maybe protesting energy happening, and it’s like the same sort of kind of upheaval, that overwhelm of the collective’s energy and wanting to respond and be reactive to things,” she said.

Alejandra-Prasad stressed that the predictions she makes are not based on personal belief, and based solely on astrological placements, which she says is a language that could help us navigate life and make important decisions.

“If you go in with that intent, no matter whether it’s you wanting to learn the astrology about the upcoming presidential election or to figure out your life purpose, I believe astrology can be extremely helpful. As long as we make sure that we’re using discernment and not getting not getting too accustomed to using astrology to perpetuate our cognitive biases,” she said.
