Heat and strong storms in Alabama’s Tuesday forecast
Alabama will have to deal with high temperatures and the possibility of a few severe storms on Tuesday, according to forecasters.
Most of the state will be under heat advisories today. And isolated severe storms will again be possible in parts of north and east Alabama.
That same area dealt with a round of severe storms on Monday afternoon, and the National Weather Service in Huntsville got multiple reports of downed trees and power lines in parts of Jackson and DeKalb counties in northeast Alabama.
More of the same could be possible today. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has upgraded the northeast corner of Alabama to a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather today and also has a Level 1 risk for other parts of north and east Alabama.
A Level 2 risk means that scattered severe storms will be possible. A Level 1 risk means that isolated severe storms will be possible.
Here’s today’s updated severe weather outlook:
The strongest storms today will again bring the threat of strong wind gusts that could bring down more trees and power lines.
Heat will be the bigger concern for most of the rest of Alabama today.
High temperatures are expected to peak in the low to mid-90s across a wide portion of Alabama this afternoon. Add in high humidity levels and it could feel as hot as 105 to 111 degrees in some areas.
