The United States performed well during the qualifying round on Sunday, as they finished in first place. The United States scored at least 41.5 points in each event, which included an impressive 44.799 point performance in vault.

Biles led Team USA on Sunday, as she scored 15.8 points in vault and 14.6 points in the floor exercise. Biles also scored 14.7 points in the balance beam, which was second-best of all gymnasts in the round. Notably, Biles was able to perform at a high level while dealing with calf pain, which showcases her elite ability as a gymnast.

Lee also helped Team USA dominate on Sunday, as she finished fourth in the balance beam and third in uneven bars. The former Auburn gymnast is seeking her fourth Olympic medal this summer, and she is competing well enough to reach the podium this week.

Jordan Chiles was an unsung hero for Team USA on Sunday, as she performed at a high level throughout the event. Her contributions helped solidify a first place finish for America in the qualifying round, so she will try to perform similarly this morning.
