UCLA coach DeShaun Foster’s Big Ten media days opening statement a catastrophe

UCLA introduced itself to the rest of the Big Ten on Wednesday during the conference’s media days. It didn’t go well.

UCLA coach DeShaun Foster didn’t appear to have much of a gameplan when he stepped to the podium.

“I’m happy to be here,” he said. “I’m glad to be a part of this great conference. Finally putting two great emblems together — UCLA and the Big Ten. We’re a school that’s won, what, 123 championships? So, this fits with us being right in this conference. Football-wise, we’re just excited. I’m sure you guys don’t know too much about UCLA, our football program, but we’re in L.A.

“It’s us and USC.”

Then silence.

After an awkward 20 or so seconds, the 44-year-old coach managed a, “I’m just basically excited; that’s it.”
