Trump calls Biden ‘single worst president by far in the history of our country’

Only minutes after President Joe Biden announced he was abandoning his campaign for re-election, his predecessor and would-be successor weighed in.

In a phone call with CNN, former President Trump said of Biden, “He is the worst president in the history of our country. He goes down as the single worst president by far in the history of our country.”

Trump went on to say he believes Vice President Kamala Harris, if she ends up being the Democratic nominee, will be easier to defeat in the November presidential election.

Biden dropped out of the 2024 race for the White House on Sunday, ending his bid for reelection following a disastrous debate with Donald Trump that raised doubts about his fitness for office just four months before the election.

The decision comes after escalating pressure from Biden’s Democratic allies to step aside following the June 27 debate, in which the 81-year-old president trailed off, often gave nonsensical answers and failed to call out the former president’s many falsehoods.

On Truth Social, Trump had more to say, in the same vein:

“Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve – And never was!” Trump wrote. “He only attained the position of President by lies, Fake News, and not leaving his Basement. All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t – And now, look what he’s done to our Country, with millions of people coming across our Border, totally unchecked and unvetted, many from prisons, mental institutions, and record numbers of terrorists. We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
