An Alabama man is accused of fatally shooting his wife and four children inside their home overnight, according to officials with the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Alabama District Attorney’s Office.

The shooting happened about 10 p.m. Thursday in the Greentree Drive area of Bibb County.

The suspect is in custody and facing five counts of capital murder.

Officials say two of the young victims were the suspect’s children and two were a nephew and niece.

It’s believed, authorities said, that the suspects parents might have been in the home at the time of the shooting but were unharmed.

Investigators are still working to sort out the details.

The State Bureau of Investigation is leading the probe.

ALEA and district attorney officials said more information will soon be released.
