These Alabama Winn-Dixies are being converted to Aldi stores
Three Alabama Winn-Dixie stores are slated to be converted into Aldi locations.
According to the company, the stores at 10 McFarland Blvd. in Northport, 2910 Morgan Road in Bessemer and 4701 Center Point Road in Pinson will become Aldi stores.
A company spokesperson said more information will be made available later.
“All associates working at these locations received official advanced notice that their store will close to convert to an Aldi location,” the spokesperson said.
“To ensure a smooth transition for our associates, (Southeastern Grocers) has worked diligently with Aldi to provide support and opportunities to each associate at converting stores, including having the first opportunity to apply to roles at newly converted Aldi stores or remain with Winn-Dixie and transfer to a neighboring store.”
Last year, Aldi acquired Winn-Dixie and Harveys from Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers. The deal includes grocery store locations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
The company announced at the time that some of the 39 Winn-Dixie locations in Alabama will be rebranded as Aldi stores, while others will continue to operate as Winn-Dixie.
“As we work through this transition period, conversion plans are still being finalized, and we will share more information as it becomes available,” the spokesperson said. “We appreciate the support and understanding of our valued associates, customers and communities throughout this process.”
