Alabama’s Katie Britt says Trump can get America ‘back on track’
Alabama Sen. Katie Britt returned to the national spotlight Monday night with a prime time appearance on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Britt, who gave the GOP rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech back in March, spoke for five minutes Monday night, denouncing the Biden-Harris administration and calling for a return of Republican nominee Donald Trump to the White House.
“To my fellow moms and dads across America, I think we all know that raising a family is hard,” Britt said. “Add in smartphones and social media and we already had plenty to worry about.
“But then Joe Biden and Kamala Harris came around. Now our lives are that much more difficult and way more expensive. Under Biden-Harris, prices are high and expectations, well, they’re low.”
Britt blamed Biden for rising costs of groceries, electricity, gas, and housing.
“To me, these aren’t just numbers,” the senator said. “This is pain for millions of Americans. It means that so many American families have to live with so much less.”
Britt said Biden was not capable of reversing what she said was the negative course of the nation.
“The American people won’t have the wool pulled over our eyes,” Britt said. “We see how Biden and Harris keep making things worse. And we know the current president is not capable of turning things around.
“His weakness is costing us our opportunity, our prosperity, our security, our safety, each diminished, all in decline. Just like the man in the Oval Office.”
Britt who was elected in 2022 to replace Sen. Richard Shelby, Alabama’s longest serving senator, echoed the theme of other speakers Monday night, saying that another term for Trump would mean brighter days for American families.
“We will defeat decline, dust off our dreams and forge our future because families across our nation deserve better,” Britt said. “Once again, America will be the land of limitless opportunity for all and paving that path starts today. So let’s roll up our sleeves. Send President Trump back to the White House. And get America back on track.”
