Motorcyclist, driver killed Saturday in Marshall County collision

Marshall County authorities report that a motorcyclist and the driver of a car both died in a collision Saturday evening northwest of Guntersville.

The Marshall County Coroner’s Office posted details of the incident on Facebook. According to the statement, the collision occurred just after 7 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and U.S. 231 near the town of Union Grove.

Motorcyclist Blake Hicks, 27, of Arab was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office. Carolyn Thompson, 75, of Joppa, the driver of the other vehicle, was transported to Marshall Medical Center North, where she was pronounced dead. A passenger in the car driven by Thompson was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

According to the coroner’s office, other agencies responding to the incident included the Brindlee Mountain Fire Department, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, which is investigating.
