Man killed, 2 women flown to hospital after multi-vehicle Alabama crash

A man was killed and three people were injured, including two women who were flown to a hospital, following a multi-vehicle crash Thursday in southwest Alabama, authorities said.

William H. Moore, 69, of Higginsville, Missouri, was a passenger in a 2017 Jeep Liberty that struck a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 around 4:17 p.m. Thursday on Highway 31 about six miles south of Brewton, in Escambia County, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Joshua Thompson.

Moore was taken to D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton, where he died of his injuries, Thompson said.

The driver of the Ram was also taken to D.W. McMillan Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

After the collision between the Ram and Jeep, the Jeep was struck by a 2020 Hyundai Sonata.

The drivers of the Jeep and the Sonata, both women, were helicoptered to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for treatment, Thompson said.

The extent of their injuries was not immediately disclosed.

Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued to investigate the fatal wreck.
