Suspect charged with capital murder in southwest Alabama slaying

A man was charged with capital murder after authorities say he shot and killed a man during a burglary over the weekend in southwest Alabama.

Santaevius McWilliams, 20, of Thomasville, was charged Tuesday with capital murder-burglary in the fatal shooting of Esaw Woods in Clarke County, court records showed.

According to the complaint filed in McWilliams’ case, he shot Woods multiple times inside Woods’ home while burglarizing the residence.

Three juveniles were also arrested in connection with the Thomasville homicide, the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office told WKRG.

Efforts by AL.com to reach the sheriff’s office were unsuccessful.
